Christmas Sewing
Every December, I get in the mood to do some fun and simple Christmas sewing. It's great to get out all my cute holiday fabric and do some non-stress, non-deadline sewing.
None of my projects ever gets finished in a year, but it is fun to pull out the old work in progresses and, of course, start a new one too.
This year my new project are these 6" Scrappy Stars in a Christmas color way. I can already tell this will be a multi year project. I'll probably end up turning them into a wall hang or pillow cover.
I think seasonal pillow covers are the best! They are fast, easy to make, you can put them over your existing cushions, and they are small so they store nicely. Intrigued? Check out my Fusible Snowflake Pillow Cover Tutorial.
And here are the quilts I've been working on for a couple of years. :)
I'm almost done with my red and white 3" patchwork quilt! I added a green check border and bought backing and batting this year. Yay! I'm hopeful about getting it quilted and bound this month, but no promises. ;)
I've also been enjoying making Stretched 9-Patch quilt blocks in the evening. I've been able to use up a lot of leftover 2.5" strips.
I cannot recommend making these blocks enough. I've made 4 quilts (one of them queen-size) with the 3.5" strip version! I almost NEVER make the same quilt again, much less 4 times. I think the ease and the fact that I get to try different color combinations for each block that keeps me coming back.
I have a video, written, and printable tutorial for the Stretched 16-Patch quilt on my blog. I show how to make the 3.5" strip version and my friend Stacy has a video tutorial for the narrow Stretched-16 Patch made with 2.5" strips. So easy, fun, and cute!
While I was on Stacey's YouTube channel getting the video link, I saw a tutorial for a Pen Holder/Bookmark! This could be used with a sketch book, journal, or planner. I almost bought one of these for my planner, but now I can make one myself with scraps that will coordinate perfectly! :)
Stacy also has a whole playlist with tutorials for more easy and fast holiday presents. Check it out!
