Scrap Quilts from Crumbs, Strips & Strings Book
I want to introduce you to a fellow scrap lover, Emily Bailey of Aunt Em's Quilts! I met Emily online years ago when blogging was a thing and we were both just starting to write quilt tutorials. Now Emily is the scrap queen, has written tons of quilt patterns, and this week she released a second book focused specifically on scrap quilts!
You know I love a good scrap quilt, so I was excited to see Emily's new book: Scrap Quilts from Crumbs, Strips & Strings.
There are a lot of fun patterns in this book, each one of them straightforward and scrap dense. Many of the patterns start with sewing fabric ‘crumbs' together to make larger fabric pieces which are then cut to size and used in the quilt.
I was really drawn to this cute flower table runner pattern. The flower heads and stems are made from little pieces of fabric that have been sewn together, so you can use up your smallest scraps. Yay!
Because it is somehow impossible for me to follow a pattern, I decided to modify the layout to make a throw pillow instead of a table runner. It came together really quickly. I think it would be really fun to make multiple rows of the flowers into a regular-sized quilt!
I used my yellow and orange scraps to make fall mums and I love how it looks with the fall version of my Stretched 16-patch quilt.
