About the Quilty Chicks Sampler Quilt and 2024 Block of the Month Schedule

I am so excited that you are joining me to make the Quity Chicks quilt in 2024! Let me tell you about the quilt pattern and what we will be doing each month.

The pattern is available both as a digital pdf and a printed paper copy. Because of high shipping costs, I only ship within the US. Everywhere else, it will be less expensive to print the pattern at home or in a print shop.

About the Quilt Pattern

The Quilty Chicks pattern is 31 pages long and has detailed piecing instructions. The pattern is divided into the following sections:

  1. Section 1: Basic Body Parts and Construction

    1. The first section give cutting and piecing instructions for basic chicken parts that are used in all of the chickens: legs, beaks, waddles, and combs. It is most efficient to make all of these units together instead of making just what you need each month.

    2. The first section also give instructions for how to make the main chicken body parts: front, rear, back/neck, etc. You will refer back to these instructions for each set of chickens you make.

  2. Section 2: Chicken Blocks

    1. The second section gives instructions for the 7 interior quilt blocks found in each of the 7 sets of chickens. Each month you will make 2 interior quilt blocks, refer back to the main body part instructions to make and assemble 2 chickens, 1 right-facing and 1 left-facing.

    2. Then there are instructions for the chicks.

  3. Section 3: Flower Blocks

    1. The final section of the pattern gives cutting instructions for all of the flower pieces and sewing instructions for the leaf/stem units.

    2. This is followed by piecing instructions for 4 flowerheads. You will make 2 of each flowerhead each month.

  4. Section 4: Final Construction

    1. This section includes cutting and layout instructions for the spacing and sashing strips

    2. There are also special instructions for cutting and attaching the quilt borders
