Mt. Range Quilt Along - Week 2
It is time to get sewing!
This week we will make Row 1 and 2 of the quilt. We are starting at the bottom of the quilt and working our way up so that we can use the scraps from the large mountains to make the smaller mountains. Refer back regularly to the diagram of the quilt layout, on page 6, to see how each row fits into the whole.
I was planning on posting instructions for all 14 rows today, but I'm not completely ready and I want to go over the instructions again and make sure there are no errors. So today I am only providing the instructions for Rows 1 and 2 (on page 7).
To get the weekly emails with instructions, click below to sign up for the quilt along.
Over 600 quilters have signed up so far!
Each row has its own set of instructions. The top part shows which foundations need to be pieced. The line drawings represent the foundations, printed side up. The foundations should be sewn together in the order they are shown. The shaded mountains in the lower half, represent the fabric side of the foundations after they have been pieced. After sewing the mountains together, sew them to the indicated strips.
I posted a video on YouTube so you can see me explain all that. Yay! But I didn't know what I was doing, so it is recorded sideways. Sigh. I don't have time to redo it because I need to leave in a half hour to go out of town. If you are desperate and totally confused, watch the video with your head tilted. (Oh, boy...)
Now the fun part! The winner of last week's giveaway, a $20 gift certificate to Mashe Modern Fabrics is Ann @hokeann. YAY! (I'll send you a message via Instagram tomorrow.)
For everyone else there is still a little something. When you sign up for the Mashe Modern newsletter (sign up form at the bottom of the website), they will send you a coupon so you can save 10% off your first order. I know they are getting in some of the new fabric releases over the next few months, and you'll be the first to know about them.
Next week's winner gets a curated 6 piece fat quarter bundle from my stash! Post a picture of your finished Row 1 and Row 2 on Instagram with the hashtags #MtRangeQAL and #MtRangeQALWeek2 and tag me @sewn.by.leila.gardunia by midnight October 20th to be eligible.
From there on out, we will continue making two rows of the quilt each week, working our way from the bottom to the top. This will let us use the scraps from the large blocks in our small blocks. Yay!
Oct 14-Dec 1 - Make two rows a week.
Dec 2-8 - sew rows together and celebrate!
I can’t wait to see all of your great blocks! Let me know if you have any questions.
